About two years ago, HubSpot initially revealed its Custom Objects functionality. Businesses of various sizes and types have been leveraging the ability to create distinctive objects in their CRMs since Custom Objects was released, considerably increasing their capacity to record meaningful data and obtain quantifiable outcomes.

This feature, in classic HubSpot form, is also dynamic. It's continuously getting updated and improved, so HubSpot released a few critical additions at its yearly INBOUND conference.

A Review of Custom Objects in HubSpot

Custom objects can store and organize virtually any form of data in the HubSpot CRM. Initially, the HubSpot CRM could only contain the following objects:

  • Contacts
  • Companies
  • Deals
  • Tickets

Companies now have a more comprehensive option for storing various data types thanks to custom objects. Additionally, it established HubSpot as an enterprise-level tool that could benefit practically any industry.

Any part of your organization that could be managed using data can have suitable objects created for it.

For instance, you could build an "onboarding" object if you needed to keep tabs on developing a project for customer onboarding. A developer may create objects related to their software; a car dealership could make a "new car" object, and so on.

Once a custom object has been defined, you can attach properties to it and use them to manage pipelines and create associations between your objects. For your workflows, emails, and automated processes, objects are a crucial tool.

Recently, HubSpot made changes to this page. What to anticipate from HubSpot's Create a custom object beta feature is listed below.

Beta for Create a Custom Object

Several functionalities are currently available in the create a custom object beta to help you better record and save information in your CRM. The most significant difference is that custom objects are now simple to make in your HubSpot CRM utilizing a straightforward form.

This ability means that even if your users are unfamiliar with APIs, they can still independently construct Custom Objects.

HubSpot users can only make custom objects with an Enterprise-level subscription. It nonetheless applies to all Enterprise subscription types:

  • Marketing Hub Enterprise
  • Sales Hub Enterprise
  • Services Hub Enterprise
  • Operations Hub Enterprise
  • CMS Hub Enterprise

Only super admins can build a custom object in HubSpot's settings or through the API.

Users can make an object reasonably simply. First, select the "Settings" symbol (the gear) from the main navigation bar. Next, select "Objects" and "Custom Objects." A "Create a custom object" button and any previously generated custom objects will be present.

Doing this will open a display where you can give your object a name and choose its primary display attributes.

You can see from the example above that the user is constructing an object called "Car" that will have the display property "Model." Any other qualities you can think of that could be relevant to an automobile, such as "Make," "Year," or any secondary display properties, could be added to the custom Car object by this user.

The checkbox at the bottom of the image shows that the user has the option to demand unique values for each property. By doing this, users are prevented from unintentionally adding duplicate records to the database.

The "Create" button is located at the bottom of the panel, and once you have customized this information as you see fit, click it to create the custom object.

You can perform the following once the object is defined:

  • For your object to be connected to other objects, create association labels.
  • To keep track of the processing of your custom objects, create custom object pipelines.
  • Create your own sidebars, association cards, and board cards by modifying the properties that appear in them.
  • Select which attributes should be displayed when manually generating new custom object records.

Use HubSpot's Custom Objects to Your Advantage

The Custom Objects function of HubSpot has recently undergone the changes you can see above, but there will undoubtedly be more upgrades in the future. HubSpot continuously tries out new features and is open to recommendations from the community.
